WELCOME!
I’m a Californian by way of Seoul, and I’m a long-time Angeleno resident. I currently live in the heart of Los Angeles with my husband and my four-legged child. I {heart} this city, especially the weather, access to great outdoor activities, diversity of cultures and the vibrant food scene.
The kitchen is the well tread, most lived in room our home. It’s a place to hang with family and friends, a place to get creative, a place to relax. My ideal evening – hanging with the hubs and pup, pouring a delicious wine, catching up on the day’s events and cooking together. Yup, too much excitement in our house!
My family calls me an “equal opportunity eater” — I’m open to trying any and all cuisines. No matter how strange to bizarre something sounds, I’m willing to jump in that pond – even if it’s only once.
Recently, my free-wheeling culinary adventures took a major detour due to my health. My health journey had already been filled with highs and lows relating to struggles with being overweight. Now, with a recent diagnosis of an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, I had to reassess the stress that I carried, and make significant changes to my diet. Managing calories to lose weight was one thing – to completely change my diet to address a disease – this was devastating news.
The pity party is over. I’m turning lemons into lemonade, and have taken steps to educate myself about my new dietary reality. With my finance background, I’m pretty disciplined about fact finding and research, so I assumed the information gathering exercise would be a breeze. Little did I know, there is a TON of information, and I found it challenging to make sense of it all.
My goal for this blog is to document what I’ve learned, and sharing my kitchen experiments. While food is a prescription for healing, I strongly believe it still needs to taste delicious and to feel indulgent. If it doesn’t taste good and bring satisfaction, why bother eating it, right?
I’m glad you dropped by. I hope you’ll hang and cook with me.
Xoxo,
Linda
